Tesla Model S driver rear-ends a stopped vehicle despite the warnings.

I still think this shit would have been avoided if they had called the system “Copilot” instead of “Autopilot”.

There’s going to be more and more idiots like this who will over-rely on these systems and then blame everyone else but themselves when they crash

No. A word woul dn’t change this level of stupidity.

this is also why Level 3 automation should never be put on the market.

That was a solid three seconds of advance warning, and the driver ignored it until there was less than a second remaining .

Despite the fact that a copilot is perfectly capable of flying the plane on their own, while an autopilot is not?

Copilot implies that the system is there to assist you (which the system is), autopilot implies it’s there to do everything for you.

Only if you don’t know what you are talking about...

It’s a car, not a plane.

And? It’s using an aviation term that didn’t previously exist for cars.

I sometimes hope one of these overmonied idiots hits me so I can sue my way into a new house.
Not sure what irks me the most about this brand - the arrogant mouthy leader, the defensive brainwashed cultists, or the boring egg styling with interior materials and finishing befitting a car half the price. Too bad all of these are stuck to something that is significant. Cool powertrain, dull to loathsome attachments.

And maybe the flashing lights from, not one, but two police vehicles might clue you in that, hey maybe I should take the wheel and slow down. What a d-bag.
